Waldorf Life

Magic Kingdom

Your Best Disney Vacation

Going to Walt Disney World® Theme Parks is on the top of most families’ vacation wish lists. From meeting the characters to riding the latest attractions and nightly fireworks – it is a once-in-a-lifetime trip with loved ones. And the magical moments don’t have to end at the parks, you’ll find ‘Minnie’ more of them at Waldorf Astoria Orlando.

Here are some ways my family and I make the most of our time at the resort during our Disney vacations –

Ask the Concierge

Stop by the Concierge desk in the lobby and get all the scoop for your vacation. From park times to dining recommendations, directions and even purchasing park tickets – I’ve relied on them many times! From scheduling activities during Enchanted Evenings and booking that important reservation at Bull & Bear during Food & Wine Weekends – the Concierge team is your key to a successful visit.

Let Someone Else Do the Driving

Don’t worry about navigating the roads while on vacation – hop on the complimentary, luxury motor coach transportation between the resort and each of the Disney parks and Disney Springs™. With pickups and drop-offs throughout the day, you can sneak in a quick nap and leave the driving (and directions) to someone else!

Start the Day with a Big Breakfast

A hearty breakfast is always a great way to start the day – especially when the day involves visiting the theme parks. My family and I enjoy starting our day at Oscar’s breakfast buffet. Alongside the made-to-order eggs station, crepes and waffles – the charcuterie section and house made Pop Tarts are just a few of our breakfast favorites.

Take a Mid-Day Break

When the heat of the day – or the crowds – gets to be too much, head back to the resort for a swim in the pool or some quiet time. My husband and I like to take turns having a ‘time out’ while the girls nap each day. On my afternoon breaks, I enjoyed a drink in the lobby’s Peacock Alley and on his afternoons off, he visited the 18-hole Waldorf Astoria Golf Club. After the girls were rested, we made our way back to the parks.

Go on a Date

After spending time at the parks, us parents deserve a break too. Take advantage of the on-site WA Kids Club and have a romantic dinner at the award-winning Bull & Bear. The kids enjoy dinner and activities with their new friends and Mom and Dad receive a top-notch dining experience.

Watch the Fireworks from the Pool

I’ll never forget my daughter’s excitement when I told her we were going to swim in the pool while we watched the fireworks from two of Disney’s theme parks. It was magical, fun and a moment she still talks about even a year later.

Remember that family vacations are supposed to be relaxing and fun. Let the fine team at Waldorf Astoria Orlando help you make the most of your visit. It will be a trip your children will remember for a lifetime. My family and I have had plenty of memorable moments during our visits – and we are looking forward to many more as our girls grow up.
